The Connection Between Anxiety Disorder and Anger

Posted by: Administrator  :  Category: Medical Conditons, Medical News, Medications / Drugs, Mental Health

If you’re someone that suffers from anxiety disorder, anger may also be a consistently present emotion for you.  There are many reasons why the two disorders and emotions, although different, are typically related and seen in the same case.

For one, the causes of anxiety disorder and anger are often the same.  Very often someone that has been the victim of a violent crime or that has lived through abuse or a natural disaster may suffer from extreme forms of anxiety even long after the event or circumstance has passed or changed.  This doesn’t mean that their emotions are gone as well.

Think back to something that happened in your life that was unjust or unfair or humiliating.  Doesn’t it still make you angry when you think of it?  If that bully in school teasing you still bothers you to this day, then it’s understandable how someone that has been victimized by things even more serious than this can suffer from both anxiety disorder and anger.

The situation they lived through causes them extreme anxiety because they are afraid of what will happen next or of having that same thing happen to them again, and they’re angry at whatever it was that happened in the first place.

Dealing with both anxiety disorder and anger is somewhat similar as well.  Most who suffer from extreme anxiety must come to terms with the reasons why.  They must face their memories of the stressor or trigger and realize how it is affecting them to this day.  When a person is honest with themselves about their anxiety disorder and anger they can then learn new ways of thinking in order to put the past behind them and move forward.

It’s very important for anyone with both anxiety disorder and anger issues to speak to a therapist as soon as possible.  Many who are prone to extreme outbursts of anger hurt not only themselves but those around them.  They typically don’t realize the damage they are doing to their family and especially their children; many think that as long as they aren’t physically abusive then there is no harm done.

But in reality anxiety disorder and anger issues can cause lingering problems for children and spouses of those with these issues, but a trained therapist can do quite a bit of good in helping a person to come to terms with these conditions and changing their behavior.

It is a cognitive episode where your mind will tell your body it is experiencing discomfort that likely doesn’t exist and can last from just 1 minute to as long as 15 minutes. Often an attack will make a person live in fear of the next attack, which only worsens the stress they are under.

Instead of living your life in fear you can learn how to control them. Anxiety panic attacks usually come on unexpectedly to most people, but what if there was some way you could know it was coming? You can take the controlling techniques to a higher level in order to get rid of your anxiety panic attacks. You can start out by teaching yourself relaxation practices. You’ll want to choose something that’s appropriate for you. Some of the more popular choices are listening to relaxing music, reading and practicing yoga. How To Choose And Use Anxiety Disorder Drugs

Posted by: Administrator  :  Category: Medical Conditons, Medical News, Medications / Drugs, Mental Health

Some people are very hesitant when it comes to the issue of using anxiety disorder drugs. They may fear addiction or their side effects, or may just have a generally negative opinion about these in the first place, thinking that drugs and medication are for those who are weak.  Especially when it comes to anxiety disorder drugs do many think that they should be able to go without, reasoning that anxiety and panic are things they should handle on their own.

In truth there are many anxiety disorder drugs on the market today that can do a patient a world of good.  These medications are not as harsh as they perhaps once were, and if used under a doctor’s supervision should not cause addiction.  Side effects always vary but can usually be controlled and tolerated.

Antidepressants are common anxiety disorder drugs to treat posttraumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, and obsessive compulsive disorder.  They may also be used to treat a variety of depressive disorders, such as manic depression, major depressive disorder, or postpartum depression.

They can be prescribed in very mild form or can be much stronger for those with serious cases of depression, especially if they have suicidal thoughts or tendencies.  Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) are anxiety disorder drugs used to treat panic and extreme forms of anxiety, along with social phobia and posttraumatic stress disorder.

All anxiety disorder drugs should be taken exactly as prescribed.  Unfortunately many who take these drugs without immediate relief take it upon themselves to increase their dosage, with damaging and dangerous results.  Or they make the opposite mistake and, afraid of becoming addicted or of overdoing the drug, cut their dose.  This can make them ineffective.

Your doctor can tell you exactly your dosage of anxiety disorder drugs, along with side effects to expect.  Most patients taking any of these types of anxiety disorder drugs experience dry mouth, some dizziness, mild headaches, and slight weight gain.  Most side effects are moderate but any that interfere with a person’s routine or everyday life should speak with their doctor; usually additional medications can be prescribed for severe headaches or other serious side effects.

Most who use anxiety disorder drugs properly find that they offer a great amount of relief from their depression or panic.  When used under a doctor’s supervision and as prescribed, they can help a patient live panic-free.

What Are Autistic Spectrum Disorders Behaviours?

autistic spectrum

In 1943, Dr. Leo Kanner first brought the autistic spectrum disorders to the attention of the world. Around the same time, another scientist Dr. Hans Asperger was making a similar discovery about the disorder of Asperger syndrome. We now know that autism and Asperger syndrome both fall into the disorders within the autism spectrum. While these disorders can all have similarities, they do vary in the way that they affect individuals, with regard to communication skills, repetitive behavior and problems with social interaction.

The parents of a child are normally the first to notice the signs of an autistic spectrum disorder. These disorders can actually rear their heads before the child is even three years of age. Children who have autism spectrum disorders do not act like other children. They may be withdrawn socially and may stare off into space and not respond when their name is called. However, there are instances of the disorder not showing up until later, such as when a child, who once acted as a normal toddler, suddenly begins to show signs.

Disorders may range from the milder form in the autism spectrum, normally referred to as Asperger syndrome, to a more severe form known as an autistic disorder. There is also high functioning autism, which shows symptoms very close to Asperger syndrome. If a child seems to have symptoms of autism, either the mild or the more sever form, yet does not fall under a certain criteria for one of these disorders, then they are normally diagnosed with a pervasive developmental disorder.

If disorders in the autistic spectrum are caught early on, then there are plans that can be put into action that can help the patient gain better skills in both communication and in social situations. The problem is that these disorders are not always noticed right away, mostly because children all develop at different rates. Not every child will speak at the same time another might, and so on. It is important than any delays in development be passed on to the child’s physician so that testing for autism spectrum disorders can be initiated.

Interested In Learning How To Hypnotize People?

Hypnotism is something that seems very elusive to people.  In general, people perceive hypnotism in this way because of what they may have seen in the movies or witnessed in person at a show.  When you get to the nuts and bolts of it, hypnosis is simply a relaxed state of mind, one that can help an individual focus clearly and at the same time block out any issues that may be keeping that individual from attaining a relaxed state.  There are several ways that you can reach this state and many people are surprised to find that they actually are in a semi-hypnotized state of mind several times per day.  When we allow ourselves to relax and daydream is when this state occurs in our daily lives.

If you’re interested in learning how to hypnotize people, there are several ways in which you can do so.  There are some good books available on the subject as well as some CD’s and DVD’s which will teach you the process.  There are also plenty of self hypnosis CD’s available which cover a wide variety of subjects.  These CD’s are used, in most cases, to aid a person in dealing with issues like addiction or if they are simply trying to clear their own mind of a troublesome memory.  Something that you need to look out for are the courses on how to hypnotize people using crazy tricks and offhand techniques.  If you like throwing away money then by all means, purchase these courses, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

When you put someone in a hypnotic state, their mind will be open to suggestion but they will not be fully under your control.  Under hypnosis, an individual is relaxed yes but, they still have control of their faculties.  A very common misconception about when a person is under hypnosis is the after effect of amnesia.  It is extremely rare that somebody would go so deep under hypnosis to come out with signs of amnesia.  For the most part, the person is aware of nearly everything that is going on in their environment at the time of their hypnotic state.

The process of hypnotizing someone is actually quite simple.  A person is able to hypnotize themselves by relaxing, you are simply going to help them get there easier.  Amongst most professional hypnotherapist’s, they each have a style that is quite their own.  There are various styles that a professional will use such as the way the speak to an individual or how they portray mental images in the person’s mind.

If you really want to learn how to hypnotize people, you should invest in a quality course and leave the various misconceptions at the door.  Once you become a versed hypnotist, you can aid friends, family and even yourself to achieve a high quality level of relaxation.  Upon learning hypnosis, you will be pleasantly surprised at what you can accomplish for yourself and others.

Quit Smoking Today

You CAN quit smoking now. Quitting smoking has immediate as well as long-term benefits for you and your loved ones. Do you still smoke? The list below shows you what danger you put yourself in if you do not quit smoking.

Health Effects of Cigarette Smoking

Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body; causing many diseases and reducing the health of smokers in general.1 The adverse health effects from cigarette smoking account for an estimated 438,000 deaths, or nearly 1 of every 5 deaths, each year in the United States.2,3 More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.

Cancer

Cancer is the second leading cause of death and was among the first diseases causually linked to smoking. Smoking causes about 90% of lung cancer deaths in men and almost 80% of lung cancer deaths in women. The risk of dying from lung cancer is more than 23 times higher among men who smoke cigarettes, and about 13 times higher among women who smoke cigarettes compared with never smokers. Smoking causes cancers of the bladder, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx (voice box), esophagus, cervix, kidney, lung, pancreas, and stomach, and causes acute myeloid leukemia. Rates of cancers related to cigarette smoking vary widely among members of racial/ethnic groups, but are generally highest in African-American men. Cardiovascular Disease (Heart and Circulatory System) Smoking causes coronary heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United States.1 Cigarette smokers are 2–4 times more likely to develop coronary heart disease than nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking approximately doubles a person’s risk for stroke.7,8 Cigarette smoking causes reduced circulation by narrowing the blood vessels (arteries). Smokers are more than 10 times as likely as nonsmokers to develop peripheral vascular disease. Smoking causes abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Respiratory Disease and Other Effects

Cigarette smoking is associated with a tenfold increase in the risk of dying from chronic obstructive lung disease.7 About 90% of all deaths from chronic obstructive lung diseases are attributable to cigarette smoking. Cigarette smoking has many adverse reproductive and early childhood effects, including an increased risk for infertility, preterm delivery, stillbirth, low birth weight, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Postmenopausal women who smoke have lower bone density than women who never smoked. Women who smoke have an increased risk for hip fracture than never smokers.

Is There An Alternative Method To Stop Smoking

Posted by: Administrator  :  Category: Medical News, Medical Procedures, Mental Health, Stress

Although you may not think it, suffering from tobacco nicotine addiction apart from being a very bad habit, is pretty much similar to being addicted to cocaine or heroine. A smoker may argue against that statement but consider contracting cancer because of your habit and you will begin to consider quitting. Stopping smoking through an alternative therapy method is not like going on a diet it has to interest you and keep you interested until it works there are no overnight cures despite what advertisers may tell you. An attractive alternative therapy when quitting smoking is the use of self-hypnosis to bring about a calm and relaxed frame of mind. Many advocates of hypnosis as a way of breaking the smoking habit do so because they feel totally relaxed during the withdrawal period as opposed to other treatments that make withdrawal an unpleasant experience. The result of this is that hypnosis is finding a place in the education of individuals as to the danger of smoking and providing an escape that appears to take little effort.

There are numerous sites selling a variety of hypnosis and self hypnosis products on the Internet the best we can recommend is Purely Hypnosis , CD’s which is devoted to helping people kick the habit. There are many people that buy them and say they feel better. Users of the recommeded site include Jeraldine Saunders (the Creator of the ‘Love Boat’ TV series and Tom Mankiewcz the writer of ‘Superman the Movie’. Maybe you’ve seen some shows where people get hypnotized and bark like a dog or any other animal, do not worry you will never act like this under self hypnosis. The great thing about hypnosis is the feeling of total relaxation and peace one feels.

You may have tried pills and potients to help you stop smoking but have you considered acupuncture or hypnosis both if carried out by profesionally trained practitioners can help. The truth that any medic or scientist can confirm is that we know little or nothing at all about mysticism and what it involves. You can search for opinions on the Internet and you will find that many share my opinion that hypnosis and self hypnosis in their own right when used correctly have no side effects. Some people carry out therapies especially alternative therapies without professional qualifications, they read a book, make sure that any practioner you slect is correctly certified for the work you ask them to do. Hypnosis whether through a qualified practioner of through self hypnosis used to quit smoking may work as it is said to eliminate the desire to smoke from the most inner levels of the subconscious, and when used in conjuction with any of the other aids such as gum, patches or lozenges, can prove to be very powerful. Knowing The Symptoms Of Autistic Children Is Important For Their Well Being

autistic behavior

Tell tale signs in autistic children will normally show up before the age of two. This is when the parents of autistic children first begin to notice that something may be wrong, with regard to communication and social skills. While these problems can range from mild to severe, if there is early intervention, then there are things that can be done to help the autistic child to better handle their situation.

Everyone has seen children who behave badly on purpose, and children with autism may exhibit some of these same behaviors, but most often they will do so unintentionally. The bad behaviors that autistic children exhibit may actually be a product of what is going on around them. If they become startled by someone or something, then they may act in a way that seems inappropriate. While each child with autism will handle situations differently, being calm and directing the child away from the situation will most often work well. It is important to have a routine to calm them when autistic behavior arises.

It is important to understand the cues that each autistic child will give out, as these children may act a certain way when someone approaches them. They may become excited or exhibit certain behaviors when they are in stressful situations. Do they have a sensitivity to bright lights? An autistic child will most likely have patterns that will show when they are put into some specific situations, so understanding these patterns and cues will help you to advert otherwise stressful situations for the child. Little tips like learning the autistic child’s cues can make everyday life easier for the caregiver and the child.

While there is no cure for autism, there are things that can be done by the caregivers of autistic children to help them deal with the disorder better on a daily basis. If an autistic child behaves in ways that are viewed as being bad, they are likely a product of the environment that they are in or even stress that they may feel from their surroundings. Autism, while difficult, can be made much easier to deal with if the parents and/or caregivers understand the disorder and learn what they need to do in certain situations.

Reviewing Autism Research Benefits

autistic people

Autism research has taken huge leaps in the last few years in helping us understand more about this autistic disorder. However, there is much that is still unknown. However, if the disorder is found early, then the child has a better chance of increasing both their communication and relationship skills because parents are given information which can be applied to the daily routines of their child. There are many different theories as to why a child may have an autism and while all the answers are still not available, research has made it possible for the autistic child to live a better life.

Studies on autism have been done to try and prove if there is a genetic link to an autistic disorder. Within these studies, the genes that are related to speech and speech development were scrutinized to find out if the delays that autistic children exhibit could be genetic. One such study showed that rare genetic abnormalities existed with a certain chromosome and were one hundred times more prevalent in autistic people. It was therefore concluded that this itself could be one of the many causes of autism. It was also found that most people with autism did not have the mutation, meaning that other genes also must be involved in the process.

Autism research has shown that foods containing gluten can virtually act like poison in an autistic child’s body. When the gluten is removed from the diet, their bodies are allowed to heal, by stopping the stress that the gluten had on the child’s immune system, brain and bowels. Most experts suggest that if parents wish to try the gluten free diet to see if their child shows improvement, then they should try it for at least three months. Many parents have reported that their child exhibited improved eye contact and increased language skills after being on the gluten free diet for this time period.

Research is gaining ground on learning more about what causes autistic disorder and what can be done to help relieve some of the symptoms and behavioral patterns. Yet there still is no cure. Understanding that even the foods that are eaten by an autistic child can affect their behavior has been a huge step in enabling parents and caregivers to better take hold of the situation and to make changes in their child’s diet. As time goes on autism research will no doubt be able to give us more helpful information about what changes need to be made in an autistic child’s life in order to help them grow up to be healthier and more productive.

There Are Organizations That Helps Raise Autism Awareness

Posted by: Administrator  :  Category: Medical Conditons, Medical News, Medications / Drugs, Mental Health

Autism Speaks

Today, there are many organizations geared towards raising autism awareness. Two of the organizations that do their part to raise the awareness level for autistic spectrum disorders are The Autism Society of America and Autism Speaks. These are the two most popular organizations focused on helping individuals who have autism. These organizations work to raise money for research by hosting benefits and walks, among other programs. The more that is known about these disorders, the higher the likelihood of more breakthroughs in treatments.

In 1965, Bernard Rimland, Phd. started the Autism Society of America, also known as the ASA. Today, it is the oldest and largest autistic organization in the world. The ASA has over 120,000 supporters and members and does their part in raising autism awareness. Another widely known advocate for autism is Autism Speaks. This organization was started in 2005 Bob and Suzanne Wright, after finding out that their grandson had autism. AS is based in New York City.

The month of April has been designated as Autism Awareness Month. During April, U.S. television shows dedicate episodes to different aspects of autistic disorders. Also, many companies and organizations have teamed up to raise awareness for autism disorders and funds to help with research. In December 2007, a resolution that declared April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day was passed by the United Nations. Having awareness raised to these levels is extremely important if huge strides will ever be made in solving the autism puzzle.

Of course, organizations that are working to raise the level of autism awareness are hoping to one day find a cure for these disorders. Finding a cure or even finding out more about the disorders, so that more can be done to help the individuals who are affected by it, means more extensive research. Organizations, like AS and The ASA, work to raise money for such research and to educate society about how these disorders affect individuals. Unless the effects have been witnessed first hand, it might be difficult to realize just how devastating these disorders are, and how families attempt to cope everyday while caring for individuals who are stricken.
